Burr, Lowell George

Lowell George Burr Oct. 20, 1924 - April 23, 2008 Resident of Pleasant Hill Passed away peacefully in his sleep April 23, 2008 at Aegis of Pleasant Hill where he lived for the last 2 1/2 years. Born October 20, 1924 in Alameda, California to Edwin and Lydia Brandes Burr. He was a fourth generation Californian with a life long love of backpacking, fly fishing, photography, lapidary, mushroom hunting and classical music. Lowell attended the University of Oregon and was a graduate of the University of California where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served in the United States Army from January 3, 1946 to July 4, 1947. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Wanda Jane "Peggy" Burr and his brother Edwin Miller Burr. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Thom of Capitola, his son, Curtis Burr and granddaughter Rachele Brandes Burr of Oakland. The Family wishes to thank the wonderful people of Aegis of Pleasant Hill who lovingly cared for Lowell during his final years as he lived with Alzheimer's.
