Cater, Marnette Copeland

Marnette Copeland Cater Beloved Mother and Grandmother Born: May 10, 1930 Re-born: June 30, 2008 Resident of Pleasanton Born in Star City, Arkansas, Marnette Cater was a resident of Pleasanton for 50 years. She married the late Reverend Bill Cater on June 23, 1948. They were married for 58 years. Marnette graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1948. She was one of the founders of the First Baptist Church of Pleasanton. She was a Christian and lifelong student of the Bible. Marnette was a parent and a homemaker but also worked at Daughtry's Department store on Main Street in the 1960s and later for McDonald's in Dublin and Livermore in the 1980s and 1990s. She also partnered with her husband in owning and operating Pleasanton Painting and Decorating. She joined her husband in visiting people in nursing homes in the Tri-Valley. She delighted in her children and grandchildren and was active in their school events and activities throughout her life. Marnette is survived by her son, Terry Cater and his wife, Pam Hudson of Pleasanton; her daughter, Sherry Cater Garcia and her husband, Michael of San Jose; her daughter, Nancy Giordanengo and her husband, Guy of Windsor; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Funeral service will be held Sat., July 12 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Pleasanton (Living Vine Fellowship), 4100 First St., Pleasanton. Donations should be made in Marnette's memory to Hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Suite 100, Dublin, CA 94568. Arrangements are being handled by Graham-Hitch Mortuary (925) 846-5624.
