ANTIOCH — A 15-year-old Antioch High School student and alleged gang member was arrested on suspicion of bringing a knife on campus and inciting a fight with rival gang members, police said.
A school resource police officer received a tip that a group of students planned to fight during a lunch period Monday around 1:30 p.m., Antioch police Lt. Leonard Orman said. As a crowd assembled, the officer saw the teen attempt to start a fight with some rival gang members, Orman said. Before anything happened, the officer searched the 15-year-old and found a folding knife, which he said he had for self-defense, the lieutenant said.
The student was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife on campus and was taken to Contra Costa juvenile hall, Orman said.
