ANTIOCH — Two masked men fondled a 14-year-old girl in broad daylight in front of her Antioch house Monday before she punched one and escaped, police said.

The girl had just walked home to the 4900 block of Mesa Ridge Drive shortly before 5 p.m. when two men approached her wearing hoods and ski masks, Antioch police Lt. Leonard Orman said. As the victim backed away, one of the men said "Boy, she has a nice (behind)," and pushed the girl up against a parked car. The men fondled her buttocks over her clothes until the girl resisted, punched one of the men and escaped, Orman said.

The victim found her mother and the pair searched for the suspects in their car, but were unsuccessful, Orman said.

The suspects were most likely "cruising" the area looking for someone to rob and instead found the girl to sexually assault, Orman said.

"This goes in line with the thug mentality we've seen as far as robberies," Orman said. "They saw her as an opportunity."

The girl suffered no injuries.

The first suspect is described as a black man, at least 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, muscular, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, ski mask, black undershirt and black pants. The second suspect is described as a black man, at least 20 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, with a heavier build, wearing a black Ecko brand hooded sweatshirt, ski mask and black pants, Orman said.

Anyone with information about the case can call Antioch police at 925-779-6918.
