SAN PABLO — Four men who drove to the Rollingwood neighborhood Thursday to purchase a car were robbed of $60 by two armed men and a woman. But it may have been the robbers who fared worse in the transaction.
"The (victims) brought a lot more for the car," Contra Costa Sheriff's Sgt. Keith Chelini said. "They drove up with $2,800."
The robbery occurred at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Rollingwood Drive and Avon Lane, in unincorporated Contra Costa County between San Pablo and El Sobrante, according to the sheriff's office.
The four victims had responded to an ad posted on Craigslist.com . Chelini said the original plan was for the buyers and seller to meet at a gas station, but on the way over the "seller" called and told them to go to the intersection instead.
When they arrived, they were confronted by a woman and two men with guns. After taking $60, the three ran away. No one was hurt.
Descriptions of the robbers were not available Thursday evening.
